If you know me, then you know I live in Jersey City. This city has a few food spots worth bragging about, and Nha Trang Place is one of them. Jersey City locals are now thinking, "What the heck is that?" Their confusion would be justified, because this place changes names every few years. Look at one sign outside, and it says Pho Tan Haoi. Another sign says Miss Saigon Cafe. Nha Trang Place is the latest name on the menu, and if you haven't figured it out yet, it's a Vietnamese restaurant. Considering how good the food is, and how cheap it is, I can't imagine eating Vietnamese anywhere else. Almost nothing on the menu costs more than $8, and many dishes are just $5 to $6. It's traditional food too, so don't expect the food to be anything like trendy places in NYC like Bun on Grand Street. The decor isn't going to win any awards, and if you're not a local, you might find the neighborhood to be dicey, but if you want great food for even better prices, I highly recommend Nha Trang Place (249 Newark Avenue, 201-239-1988).
On a work-related note, this was a busy day. The highlight would have to be that The Bacon Cookbook by James Villas was featured on a segment on Good Morning America. I don't have a link to the video, but this page shows the book cover and mentions the book at the top of the list. Apparently it was a great segment (I missed it!), and sales of the book really took of on Amazon.com afterwards. You gotta love the power of TV.
